Mr. David L. Lawrence, 75, of Galesburg, Illinois, (near Knoxville) died at 1:20 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2025, at his home.
He was born March 16, 1950, in Galesburg to Lester and Gisela (Klein) Lawrence. He married Linda Gooding in December of 1968. He later married Connie Guenther in 1996 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on December 25, 2017.
Surviving is his daughter, Rochelle (and Sebastian) Wertz of Galesburg, three sisters, Sharon (and Charles) Palmer of Washington, Tina (and Steve Lair) Lawrence of Texas, and Connie (and David) Shepherd of Texas, four grandchildren, Austin Wertz, Elvin Wertz, Zachary Wertz, and Faith Wertz, and four great grandchildren, Averley, Pierre, Ellis, and Azalea. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Lawrence, mother, Gisela Crowe, and stepfather, Robert Crowe.
David attended Knoxville High School. He owned and operated Lawrence Autobody Shop for over 50 years. He was a member of the Knoxville Masonic Lodge. He was a car enthusiast.
A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at the Gilson Cemetery, Gilson, Illinois. There is no visitation scheduled. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.h-p-w.com.
