Toby Christopher Jones, age 52, of Yates City, Illinois died at 7:57 pm on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 in Abingdon, Illinois. He was born on February 25, 1973 in Galesburg, Illinois the son of David "Deke" and Linda (Wallace) Jones. He attended and graduated from Knoxville High School, the Class of 1991. Throughout his school years- he played football and was one of the captains of the "Prairieland Bad Boys" Football team. Which made it into the quarter finals. Toby was selected to play in the Illinois Shiners Football Game in Normal, Illinois. Surviving are his parents Deke and Linda Jones of Knoxville, Illinois; a brother, Caleb (Lindsey) Jones, Charley Jo, and Jace of rural Gilson, Illinois, a sister Alyssa (Brad) Mecum, Khloe, Braeden, Saige, and Brody of Knoxville, Illinois. Also surviving are special friends that he held near and dear to his heart: Morgan and her son Bruno, Alexis and her son Cooper, and Brooke and her daughter Layla. Toby worked out of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 649, Peoria, Illinois. He loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, collecting Indian artifacts, arrowheads, riding his motorcycles, and his dogs. But mostly he loved his family. Toby was a stranger to no one! He was known for his friendship, smile, and brutal honesty. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 30, 2025 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Family.
