David Maxwell Lewis, 69, of Valdosta, died on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home. Born in Valdosta on May 27, 1955, David was the son of Alton Lewis and the late Gladys Phillips Lewis. He was a long-time mechanic at Tommy Griner Nissan and taught Mechanics at Lanier County High School and at Valdosta High School. David was loved by all the clients, students and teachers he crossed paths with at those facilities. He also worked for Advanced Auto Parts.

Survivors are his father, Alton Lewis, son, Zack Lewis, daughter, Brook Lewis all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Colton, Hayden, and Hunter Sweeten; brother, Terry (Melanie) Lewis of Valdosta, a sister, Brenda Drwyer of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, and a sister, Polly Pilgrim.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at McLane Lakewood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sasser’s Landing Cemetery in Jennings, Florida. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
