David James Lyons

LYONS, David – of Davison, MI, age 84, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at The Pines of Burton. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Interment will take place following the service in Richfield Union Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries, in David's memory.

David was born on April 4, 1941, in Lawrence, Michigan, to the late Raymond and Edith (Crawford) Lyons. On April 20, 1963, he married Dorothy Rickard at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Flint, Michigan.

David retired in 1998 from Buick Motor Division, where he oversaw Buick Car Shows & Exhibits and Buick Golf. He took great pride in his work and the relationships he built throughout his career. In his free time, David could often be found on the golf course or enjoying hunting and shooting sporting clays. He was a proud member of the Detroit Gun Club. He was also well known for maintaining a meticulously cared-for lawn.

Above all, David's greatest joy was his family. He made it a priority to attend as many of his grandchildren's activities as possible, offering his unwavering support and encouragement. His family will forever cherish the memories they shared and remember him as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and great-grandfather.

David is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy Lyons; children, Dawn (Tony) Dipzinski, Susan (Robert, Jr.) Vamos, and Patrick (Sue) Lyons; 4 grandchildren, Alyssa (David) Roth, Anthony (Renae) Dipzinski, Logan Vamos, Mitchell Vamos; 5 great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Forrest and Arthur Roth, AJ and Mason Dipzinski; brother, Phil (Kathleen) Lyons; brother-in-law, Charles (Jan) Rickard; and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by a brother, Kim Lyons.
