David T. Matthews, Sr. Sr.

David T. Matthews, Sr. "Dave", 57, of Honey Brook, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

Born in West Chester, Dave was the son of Dorothy "Dottie" (Davis) Matthews and the late Thomas Matthews.

Dave was a gentle giant. He loved his family deeply and was a dedicated father, grandfather (Big Pop Pop), son, brother and partner. He spent most of his life working hard. He worked 6 days a week as an Amish Taxi Driver. He greatly enjoyed the comradery and friendship of his Amish friends and neighbors. Dave was a member of National Wild Turkey Federation, and he would regularly play WGT golf. Some of his most cherished memories were visiting Chincoteague, VA with his family and taking his son fishing. He loved the outdoors and his beloved dog Sam. Dave had a heart of gold if you were able to break through his tough shell. His love and his light will be missed by so many he touched throughout his life.

In addition to his mother, Dave is survived by his son: David T. Matthews, Jr. (Sarah) of Honey Brook; grandchildren: Annie Matthews and Henry Matthews; sister: Karen Cumens (Christopher), nieces: Sarah Cumens and Emily Cumens; and the love of his life - Beverly.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 from 9:45-10:45 AM at James J. Terry Funeral Home: 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown, PA 19335. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dave's name may be made to Brandywine Valley SPCA.
