David Charles Roach, 76, of Greensboro, Georgia died Thursday, December 12, 2024 in Athens, Georgia. He was born June 9, 1948 near Fairfield, Illinois. David was adopted as an infant by William and Mina Roach of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
He attended Summersville Grade School and Mount Vernon Township High School. Following high school, David attended the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut then worked for Columbia University doing worldwide oceanographic research. He married Sandra Simon and they relocated from Piermont, New York to Greensboro, Georgia after retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Simon; siblings, Becky (Lowery) Blackward Grothoff of Mount Vernon, Michael Price of Tennessee, Mary Ann Brown of Arkansas, and Bea Shoemaker, Katherine Shoemaker, and Jessie Moore, all of Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Eleanor Webb.
A Graveside Service was held Monday, December 16, 2024 at Oconee Memorial PArk in Watkinsville, Georgia. Lord and Stephens West Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
