David L. Schlegel

MILLERSBURG - David L. Schlegel transitioned to his heavenly home on October 9, 2025.
He was born on February 9, 1941, the youngest child of Grace (Seitz) and Raymond Schlegel.
David graduated from Millersburg High School as President of the Class of 1959. He played football, basketball, and baseball in high school, and continued involvement with sports by refereeing thrity plus years for high school and collegiate football. He was chosen to referee the Big 33 game in 1991, PIAA State Championship, and a rival game at Yale which were the highlights of his career.
David was a retired owner and president of Hegins Valley Lines / Schlegel Transportation Company, Millersburg, PA.
He was a member of David's Community Bible Church, Susquehanna Lodge No. 364 F&AM, and the Millersburg Forest of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Janie Kay Schlegel, his two sons, David Andrew (Jill) Schlegel, and Jim (Rachael) Schlegel, his brother Edwin (Linda) Schlegel, five grandchildren, Dawson, Dylan, Grant, Owen, and Lauren, two great-grand children Cayson and Jackson, and a niece and nephew.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Vera Schlegel.
There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 23rd from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home, Ltd., Millersburg with a memorial service beginning at 7:00 PM.
