David Ethan Sheets, 94, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at Sugar Fork Crossing in Anderson, Indiana. He was born on July 18, 1930, in Anderson, Indiana, to his parents, David and Edith Sheets.
David graduated from Daleville High School in 1948. After graduating he served his country in the United States Army.
After his service, he worked for Howe Fire Apparatus until he hired on at Delco Remy, where he continued to work for 30 years until his retirement in 1995.
He was a mechanic at heart, and spent much of his free-time wrenching and tinkering on vehicles. He also volunteered for Civil Defense, during that time he worked on several jeeps and trucks for them.
David married his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley R. Sheets on September 13th, 1953, and together they raised three sons.
David is survived by his three sons, David (Chris) Sheets Jr, Brian (Carol) Sheets and Jim Sheets; five grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa), Kristofer (Jennifer), Katie, Jessica (Josh), and Daniel (Melissa); thirteen great-grandchildren, Kiley, Kelsey, Kaleb, Kody, Koltin, Julia, Aidan, Ezra, Remington, Benjamin, Kaitlin, Kara, and Kori, and his beloved dog, Elvis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, mother and father-in-law, Ward and Virginia Redding, and beloved dog, Tara.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 13, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, Indiana.
Services will follow visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Bailey officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Humane Society. www.loosecares.com.
