David J. Unterwald

After a very courageous battle and Fighting the Good Fight, David Joseph Unterwald has journeyed home to be with our Lord. David fought his illness with such valor and positivity. We are forever grateful for the love, prayers and support of our neighbors, family, friends and our church.
David loved spending time fishing on his boat or being out in nature, both in New Jersey and Cape Cod where he vacationed for over 50 years. On Sundays he enjoyed attending church services at Mount Bethel Baptist Church in Warren, NJ. He worked for IQVIA for 33 years as a Financial Director. David lived in New Providence and Chatham before moving to Millington 28 years ago.
He was a graduate of New Providence High School, received a Bachelors Degree from Seton Hall University and his Masters at the University of Rhode Island.
He was pre-deceased by his mother Gloria (Pastore) Unterwald.
He is survived by his wife Doreen Ferro Unterwald who have been married for 28 years, his two daughters, Samantha Heffernan and Katharine Unterwald, his father Frank Charles Unterwald, his two sisters, Ellen Unterwald and her husband Garry Takle, and Meg Benson and her husband Van Benson.
A memorial visitation will be on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 4 – 7 PM at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home 1012 Valley Road., Gillette, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday February 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Mount Bethel Baptist Church 147 Mt. Bethel Road, Warren, NJ. Cremation was private.
