Davie Carr Hopkins, 85, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 3, 2023 at the Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 65 years to Mary “Brenda” Price Hopkins who survives.
Davie retired from BMR Investments as the field supervisor for Trails End Apartments and 3 other NC Properties and later worked with Paul Martin Automotive. He was assistant Fire Chief for Elon Fire Department and an auxiliary policeman in Elon for many years. He was a member of the former Bethel United Methodist Church and currently a member of Faith Christian Church. Davie loved his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hopkins; daughters, Denise Palmer and husband, Larry of Bridgeport, PA, Christine Wright and husband, Roger of Snow Camp and Rebecca Gabrielli and husband, Richard of Burlington; grandchildren, Robin Voiles and husband, Darryl Rowe, David Voiles, Hagan Jumani and wife, Toni, Yasmin Peters and husband, Zak, Anna van Amerongen and husband, Max, William Gabrielli and wife, Katya Samano Romo and Grace Gabrielli ; sister, Grace Rhodes of Burlington; brother, Bennie Lee Hopkins and wife, Susan of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; Grover Lewis Hopkins, Sr. and Dessie Morene Hopkins; sister, Delinda Jane Duckworth and brothers, Martin Luther Hopkins, Grover Lewis Hopkins, Jr. and Mark Lewis Hopkins
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:00AM at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Gary Williams and Rev. Reid Dickens with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Friday, July 7, 2023 at the Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
