Roxana:
Deborah L. Douglas, 72, went to her heavenly home at 9:55am on Monday, June 10, 2024, at her residence, with her family by her side. She was born on March 26, 1952, in Sikeston, Missouri, the daughter of the late Emory Alan and Martha Juanita (Ray) DeWitt. She married Richard Douglas on April 25, 1966, in East Prairie, Missouri, and he survives. Other survivors include a daughter and son in law: Kaye and Bill Stratton of Rosewood Heights, Nick and Crystal Douglas of Alton, four grandchildren: Andy and Sara Stratton, Taylor Stratton, Morgan Faith Douglas, Collin Richard Douglas, one great grandson: Zander, a brother: Jeff Bisel of Dexter, Missouri, and many other extended family and friends.
Deborah was from very humble beginnings in the bootheel of southeastern Missouri. It was there that she was raised by her grandparents, Hollis and Effie DeWitt, who instilled in her the love for her savior, Jesus Christ. She married the love of her life, Richard Douglas while still in her early teens. Deborah and Richard had a very unique bond between them that lasted for over 58 years of marriage.
Deborah was a kind person who had a heart for children, animals, and the underprivileged. Whether it was taking in stray animals, or contributing to many of her favorite charities, Deborah's gift was serving others.
For most of her life, Deborah was a homemaker. Her children were her passion and she loved them greatly. Her legacy will live
on through them.
In celebration of her life, graveside services will be at 11:30am on Friday, June 14, 2024, at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Pastor Todd Shaw will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I have know Debbie (that's what i called her all the years I knew her ) almost 45 years. I considered her a dear friend. She was always kind and respectable to me even when Rich and I would play music in the garage for hrs. I know she is in heaven talking to Jesus now and in no pain. She was a trooper and didn't complain even though I knew she was hurting. She is in the Lords hand now may God grant her the love and peace she has earned. I pray now for her husband Rich that one day he will be with her side by side.
