Deborah Kay Grodecki, mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on October 13th, 2024 in Houston, Texas after losing her ongoing battle with chronic illness and alcohol addiction. She was born on October 3rd, 1962 in Houston, Texas.
Debbie is preceded in death by her son James Tomkins, husband Ernest Grodecki and parents Dave and Carolyn Bryant. She is survived by her daughter Ashley Sims; son-in-law Austin Sims; granddaughters Penelope and Eloise Sims; daughter-in-law Monica Tomkins; sister Norma Howard; and niece Tracie Keeling.
Debbie loved to travel and go on cruises, from exploring new campgrounds in Bandera, floating in the Frio River or just relaxing on tropical sandy beaches. Debbie was a very active member of the CW Group where she enjoyed many close friendships with numerous other members enjoying country music, dancing, fishing, or just get togethers for Game Nights, Football and Fun times at the event center. She spent years volunteering on various Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo committees where she helped the Rodeo shape the lives of Agriculture Students.
One of Debbie's greatest joys was spending time with her faithful Maltese companion Bella, who brought endless happiness into her life. She referred to Bella as her "sweet baby girl".
Debbie’s successes spanned a lifetime committed to helping individuals realize their dreams through sound advice and services in some of the largest financial institutions in the United States of America. She evolved in leadership roles and focused on asking the right questions, which was her secret sauce. Debbie was an owner of a financial firm and spread her capabilities into the financial services industry, which gained her prominent titles as regional manager, to director of operations and senior director of broker dealers and investment advisory firms, to include but not limited to companies such as E-trade Capital Management, Cetera Advisors, Royal Alliance Associates Inc., WFG Inc, WFGA and Premier Travelers. She was an astute leader and always committed to excellence. She championed roles at Innovation Partners LLC and IP Financial Advisory Services LLC and was a key development strategist for their compliance programs and national financial teams. Debbie left a remarkable legacy for future generations in the financial services industry. She loved to learn and gained satisfaction from a job well done.
Debbie was a woman of substance . She ran her race the best she could until life slowed her pace. She took on challenges with humility. She loved her children and her grandchildren and spoke of them often, regardless of the unseen challenges and painful struggles.
Family members, friends, colleagues, and others whose lives were touched by Debbie are invited to attend a memorial service at Faith United Methodist Church on Saturday November 9th at 11:00 am. This gathering will provide an opportunity for those who had an impact on Debbie’s life to come together in remembrance. In lieu of flowers, we request you make a charitable donation to Faith United Methodist Church of Spring to make it possible to continue their support of the community including impactful programs like Narcotics Anonymous.
