Deborah Niday Obituary
Deborah (Debbie) Lynn Niday (nee Reisch), age 63, passed away on May 28, 2024 at her home in Columbus, Ohio after battling with breast and lung cancer. She is survived by her parents, Thomas Reisch (Linda) and JoAnn Reisch; husband, Brian Niday; sisters, Anita DeBellis (Eric) and Brenda Creske (Henry), and brother, TJ Reisch (Melissa); three children, Nicole Niday, Ashley Fritz (Josh), and Zachary Niday; and three grandchildren, Eddie, Daniel, and Benjamin; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Debbie was born on September 28, 1960 in Columbus, Ohio and spent her life in the central Ohio area. She graduated from Dublin Coffman High School in 1978 and worked briefly as an accountant. She married Brian Niday in 1984 and devoted herself to caring for her family and supporting her husband's business, Niday Automotive. Debbie was an active member of the parent-teacher organization for the three Dublin schools her children attended (Olde Sawmill Elementary School, Davis Middle School, and Scioto High School). Following their graduation, Debbie returned to work at Polaris mall where she enjoyed the interaction with customers and her co-workers.
Debbie radiated warmth and positivity. She had an endless capacity for giving and receiving love, which is reflected in her adoring family and life-long friendships. She loved books, movies, and music: she never got sick of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, she adored Dune (the book, not David Lynch's 1984 movie, as she would gladly tell you), and every Monty Python movie, and surrounded herself with Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty, The Cars, and Paul Simon. Most of all, Debbie loved to laugh. She laughed loud and often and preferred to share it with others. And her laugh was blessedly infectious.
Debbie was also brave. Despite a year-long struggle with breast cancer, her optimism and desire to live fully never wavered. She never gave in to pity and never compromised on the things and people that made her happy. Debbie will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and will continue to make us laugh.
Calling hours for Debbie Niday will be held at the Egan-Ryan Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel at 4661 Kenny Rd, Columbus, OH 43220 from 4-7 pm on Thursday June 6, 2024.
