Debra K. Stamper, 60, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday August 26th, 2023.
She was born on October 26th, 1962, in Louisville, KY, to the late Robert and Virginia Stamper. Debra was a lifelong learner whose talents crossed many genres. She earned a Bachelor of Art degree from Spalding University in 1983 and her law degree from University of Louisville in 1990. She was General Counsel and Executive Vice President of the Kentucky Bankers Association, where she spent 27 years of her career drafting industry-impacting legislation and caring deeply for the bankers she worked with.
Debra was a lover of life, the world's most loyal friend, and a mother to anyone who needed one. She was an adventure seeker who had traveled the world and was an incredible artist who had a passion for creating. She LOVED Halloween and was known for her outrageous decorations and world-famous grilled cheese. Debra lived and breathed for her friends and family, especially her grandson, Lucas. He was the light of her life and anytime she heard the call for "Mimi," she was on her way. Whenever she wasn't traveling, spending time with Lucas, or working, Debra could be found looking at the moon. She had a heart of gold and was known for being the friend you could always count on.
Debra is survived by her husband, John Hudson; her daughter, Drew Laurentin Costa (Alexis); her sisters, Peggy Stamper and Bobbie Jo Stamper; her nephew, Logan Gilbert; her niece, Autumn Gilbert; and her most cherished grandson, Lucas.
A Celebration of Debra's life will be held from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM EDT on Thursday, September 14th, at Mellwood Art Center, 1860 Mellwood Avenue.
Debra has requested that donations be made, in her memory, to a charity of the donor's choice in lieu of flowers or other memorial gifts.
