Dee Barbour Harrison

FULL OBITUARY IS FORTHCOMING

TRINITY - Jerre Dee Barbour Harrison, 82, died Sunday, November 16, 2025, at her residence.

She was born November 13, 1943, in High Point and was the daughter of the late Jerry Damron and Effie Mae Morrison Barbour, Dee received her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. She began working as a teacher's aide at Trinity Elementary School and and was a retired elementary teacher from Trindale Elementary School following twenty-five years of service. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Thomasville where she had served as a Sunday school teacher. Dee was voracious reader, and her former students recall her love for books and gift of reading. She was also a collector of many things, including Boyd bears, Santa Clauses and Ashton Drake dolls. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with them as well as traveling with her husband.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Linville Todd Harrison; sister, Linda Carol Berrier; and a brother, Roger Barbour.

Dee is survived by her husband, Joe Linville Harrison, whom she married on March 29, 1962; a daughter, Kimberly "Kim" H. Wood (William "Ed") of Archdale; daughter-in-law, Beth Harrision of Sophia; two grandsons, William Austin Wood of Archdale and Matthew "Matt" Todd (Rebekah) of High Point; and her dog, Riley.

Funeral service celebrating Dee's life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2025, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Rev. Susanne Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Thomasville.

The family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:45 PM Thursday at the funeral prior to the service.
