Delores Ann "Dee" Johnson
June 2, 1936 – October 13, 2025
Delores Ann Johnson, lovingly known as Dee, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, in Wake Forest, North Carolina, at the age of 89.
Born on June 2, 1936, in Fort Riley, Kansas, Dee was the daughter of Howard and Eva Null. She graduated from Junction City High School in 1954 and went on to attend Washburn University, where she met the love of her life, John Thomas Johnson. They married in 1956 and built a beautiful life together.
Johnny, a career Air Force officer, preceded her in death in 2008. Together, they raised their family while living in numerous states across the U.S., as well as abroad in Belgium and Germany. While overseas, Dee managed a boutique, traveled extensively, and lovingly raised their three children. After John's retirement, they settled in Burke, Virginia, where Dee began her successful career in real estate, working with ERA and Century 21. She was known for her integrity, warmth, and dedication to helping others find their homes.
Dee was a deeply generous and compassionate individual. She loved hosting gatherings of family and friends, creating joyful memories around the table and in the home. One of her greatest joys was welcoming her grandchildren for weeklong summer visits, filling those days with love, laughter, and lasting traditions. She is survived by her children Julie, JT (Kris), and Jerry (Kris); her grandchildren Kara (Jake), Matthew (Katie), and Michael; and her sister Katy. Dee's legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely and the lives she touched with her compassion.
She will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband John at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Foodbank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, in honor of Dee's lifelong generosity and care for others.
