Dennis Thomas "Denny" DeYoung
July 20, 1952 – June 23, 2025
Dennis Thomas DeYoung, lovingly known as "Denny," passed away on June 23, 2025, at the age of 72. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 20, 1952. Dennis spent the last ten years of his life in Shortsville, NY, where he built a quiet and fulfilling life surrounded by family, friends, and the simple joys he loved most.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Dennis served overseas in Germany, where he became a skilled pressman-setting the foundation for a successful career spanning over 30 years in the printing industry. From business forms to postage stamps, his dedication and work ethic were unmatched.
Dennis will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for the way he lived his life-with kindness, generosity, and a heart always willing to help a friend or neighbor. He had an infectious smile that could light up a room, a deep appreciation for a home-cooked meal (especially if there was BBQ on the side), and a passion for golf and fishing that brought him endless joy.
He is survived by his daughter Deana (Michael) Kehl and their children, Lauren and Brayden, of Mansfield, OH; his son Philip DeYoung of Stockbridge, GA; and his daughter Mackenzie. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Kevin (Tracie) DeYoung: Kristie (Chad): Mackenzie & Bria, Olivia & Madison, Jeff (Dina) DeYoung: Taylor (Dean): Ruthie & Elwood & Kolina, Mark (Aimee) DeYoung: Gabe & Nathan, Heidi (Jay) Heintzel: Alexis, and Zac, and Scott (Trisha) Hunt.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Lorraine DeYoung; his brother, Morris DeYoung, Jr. and wife Nancy; his sister, Dee Dee Hunt; and his nephew, Greg DeYoung.
His presence, warmth, and generosity will be deeply missed by both family and friends, but his legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him.
