Dennis Leon Schwerdtfeger

Memorial services for Dennis Schwerdtfeger will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the Alva Friends Church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Dennis Leon, son of the late Wiley Emil and Lois Fern (Shelite) Schwerdtfeger, was born November 27, 1948, at Hardtner, Kansas, and passed away December 23, 2024, at Kiowa, Kansas, at the age of 76 years and 26 days.
Dennis was raised in the Capron area with his brother and sisters. He was one of the last graduating classes from Capron. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force. In July of 1969, he was united in marriage to Kathryn Stoner in Alva and together they had two children, Lorisa and Daniel. They made their home in Alva for many years.
He was a member of the Alva Friends Church and continued attending as long as his health permitted. He was a truck driver and enjoyed the company of his dog and faithful companion, "Baby", who rode with him everywhere his trucking job took him. After he was no longer to drive a truck over the rode, he moved back to the family farm at Capron. Dennis continued to help his neighbors driving grain trucks during harvest.
Besides his parents, Wiley and Lois, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Sterba; his brother, Clifford Schwerdtfeger; and two grandchildren, Kamryn Schwerdtfeger and Dusty Schwerdtfeger.
Dennis is survived by his children, Lorisa Swindler and husband, Chris, of Dardanelle, Arkansas, and Daniel Schwerdtfeger and wife, Brandi, of Blanchard; his sisters, Gloria Rhodes of Alva, and Diann Schwerdtfeger of Edmond; his grandchildren, Meilani Phillips and husband, Jake, of Jet, Delayni Stinson and husband, Joey, of Blanchard, Jeff Corder of Enid, Isabel Schwerdtfeger of Blanchard, Rebekha Schoonover of Oklahoma City, and Victoria Nungaray and husband, Jesus, of Oklahoma City; five great grandchildren, Meadow, Haidyn, and Karter Phillips, Iris Nungaray, and Damon McManes, and one to be born soon, Rykland Stinson; his companion, Tracy White of the home; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Alva Friends Church or the American Heart Association.
