Devin Staats Sr.

Devin's Life Story
Devin Marquise Staats, Sr. was born on April 5, 1983, to the late Janice T. Staats and late Dwayne C. Francis in Wilmington, DE. He departed this life suddenly on June 22, 2025, at Wilmington Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
Devin was educated in the Delaware Public Schools System. He graduated from Christiana High School in 2002. After graduating, Devin began working various jobs including Lancaster Court Apartments, Tire Rack, and Amazon to name a few. Devin enjoyed fishing, bowling, going to parties with friends, attending family gatherings, and just hanging out on the block where he grew up with his friends.
Devin had a vivid memory, and he enjoyed reminiscing about old times. Whether it be about his days at the Jackson Street Boys and Girls Club, playing little league football for the Redskins, his time at Christiana High School, or family gatherings. He could tell the story as if it had just happened the day before. Through these different life experiences, Devin was able to meet many people and make friends along the way. Some became lifetime close friends that he shared a special bond with.
Devin was preceded in death by his mother, Janice T. Staats; father, Dwayne C. Francis; grandmother, Carolyn Francis; grandfather, Alfred Francis; and godmother, Lisa Dyton.
Devin leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted son and namesake, Devin Staats, Jr.; beloved brothers: Dwayne and Darren Staats; beloved sister: Shaunda Calhum (Kevin); devoted grandmother: Mary Staats; nieces: Desia Williams and Kristian Calhum; nephews: Dwayne Staats and Kevin Calhum; godchildren: Chamira Marshall-Brothers, Daiona Marshall-Brothers, and Caleb Allen; and godbrother: Richard Dyton. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, devoted 1st cousins (more like brothers and sisters), cousins, and lifelong devoted friends, especially his "3rd Street Friends".
