Diana Jo (Dowell) Bonifield, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend was called home on March 30, 2025, surrounded by her cherished husband, Barry Bonifield, PGA Professional, and her devoted family. She was born on July 29, 1955, in Franklin, Kentucky, and lived most of her life in Louisville. Her journey through life was marked by the love she shared, her infectious laugh and the kindness she extended to everyone she met.
Diana graduated from Pleasure Ridge Park High School. She built a remarkable career, proudly attaining the role of SVP of Corporate Accounts for Humana. Throughout her life she spent 25 years working with Humana where she showcased her professional acumen but also her passion for community, as a longtime Pegasus Parade coordinator. Prior to retirement and her illness, she was business manager of Crescent Hill Golf Course alongside her husband. Some of her most favorite memories included…Derby City Casino, a good Gigi’s cupcake, and time spent storytelling, laughing and playing games with her family.
Diana was preceded in death by father, Robert (Bob) Dowell, and mother, Betty Anne Dowell. She leaves behind a brother, David Dowell (Melanie) and sister, Alice Phillips (Chuck). Her most treasured blessings were her husband, Barry Bonifield, children, Jason Paulley (Abbie), Joshua Paulley (Bertina), Joshua Bonifield (Ana), and Bethany Bonifield. She was most proud of being a “Gynah” to her wonderful grandchildren…Chloe Paulley, Madison Paulley, Lyla Paulley, and Nina Paulley. Diana took very seriously her role as “Aunt Dine” and had an unforgettable impact on all of her nieces and nephews, and all their babies. In addition, she would want all of her friends and family, too numerous to mention, to know you all held precious memories in her heart.
As we gather to honor her memory, we invite friends and family to join us for visitation on April 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 AM, all taking place at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville, located at 235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243. Diana will be laid to rest with love and respect at Cave Hill Cemetery & Arboretum on the same day following the service.
Diana Jo Bonifield may have left this world, but her spirit remains a guiding light in our hearts, reminding us of the profound impact one life can have on many. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered. We will miss her terribly but find comfort knowing she is at home with her Lord!
