Diane Pound Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lewin Funeral Home - Fremont on Nov. 8, 2022.
Diane D. Pound, age 71, of Larsen, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 6, 2022, in Neenah, where she was a resident at Valley VNA Senior Care. She was born on December 16, 1950 in New London, WI, the daughter of the late Carsten and Milda (Engel) Heuer. Diane and her twin sister, Donna were raised and cared for by the late Erwin and Myrtle Metzig, who brought them home when they were 10 days old following the death of their mother Milda. Diane was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Larsen.
In 1969, Diane graduated from Winneconne High School and began working at AAL (Thrivent) in Appleton for over 30 years. On September 17, 1977 Diane married Richard Pound at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church in Larsen and together they had one son, Andrew. Following her retirement from Thrivent, Diane worked at Walmart in the Optical Department and then at the Neuschafer Public Library in Fremont where she helped with the children's programs, worked at the front desk, and helped with fundraisers until her health caused her to retire.
Diane loved spending time outdoors whether it was walking, golfing, fishing, swimming, ice skating or cross country skiing. She also enjoyed traveling, growing her large garden at her home and enjoying the sunsets by the home on Lake Poygan. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Diane had a very strong faith in her Lord and Savior, and remained a faithful servant always willing to help when she could at St Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church.
Diane is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard "Dick"; her son, Andrew (Special friend, Amy Meintz) Pound; her brother, Merwyn (Special friend, Norma Jean) Heuer; two sisters, Margaret Writt and Donna (Gary) Puls; three sisters-in-law, Shirley, Mary and Sharon Heuer, brother and sister in-laws Lyle and Lynnette Pound, brother and sister in-laws Ralph and Jan Killian, and sister in-law Lois Pound, as well as by many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Erwin and Myrtle Metzig, 4 brothers, Donald, Nathan, David and Meredith "Chuck" Heuer, and a brother-in-law, Donald Writt.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church, 8630 County Rd. MM, Larsen. Rev. Paul Ibisch will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Lewin Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Fremont on Friday, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Saturday at the church from 10AM until the time of service.
Diane was known as a kind, giving person to everyone. Her kindness will continue with her gift of donation to Northwestern University, for the study and research of
Primary Progressive Aphasia. Diane fought this disease for 12 years and her gift will help to create treatments for those who continue to suffer.
