In Loving Memory of Diane Wittman
March 28, 1965 – October 2, 2025
Diane Wittman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and community pillar, passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 2, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born in Concord, Massachusetts, Diane spent her early years traveling as an Air Force "brat" before her family settled in Medical Lake, near Spokane, Washington when she was five. After earning her bachelor's degree in accounting and becoming a licensed CPA, she built a distinguished 35-year career with the IRS, including 12 years as a Revenue Agent and 23 years in management.
Not only was Diane a proud "numbers nerd" who relished spreadsheets, reports, and balancing bank accounts, she was also extraordinarily creative and effervescently extroverted. Artsy and craftsy to her core, she brought color and imagination to everything she touched. Though she often joked that she wasn't a word person-famously asking not to be tasked with spelling anything-her humor and warmth lit up every room. Her tongue-in-cheek fear of AI stemmed from the idea that if she ever installed it, it would watch her try to spell and flash on the screen, "What the heck, Diane, seriously?" She preferred her world in neat columns of numbers, accounting, and records that balanced perfectly.
After retiring, Diane remained deeply engaged in her community. She served in multiple capacities for the Altrusa organization, both locally and regionally, and participated in several other charitable groups throughout the Gig Harbor area. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Tacoma Salvation Army, continuing her lifelong commitment to service and leadership.
Diane was a people person, a conversationalist, and a lover of life. She enjoyed crafting, cheering on the Seahawks, exploring Puget Sound beaches, cruising, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her devoted husband Brad Wittman, their four children, and eight cherished grandchildren.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the laughter she shared, and the balance she brought-both to her accounting and to the hearts of those who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at the Gig Harbor Yacht Club on Saturday, October 11th, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. An additional memorial will take place in the Spokane area on November 15th; time and location to be determined.
