Dirk was born on September 25, 1965, in Sinsheim, Germany to American soldier Lawrence Martin Walls, and Susie (Krezicha) Walls. The family moved to the United States in 1966 and lived on various military bases in Kansas, Arizona, Oklahoma, and California. Dirk was confirmed in the Catholic Church in 1979 with the name "Lawrence".
Dirk graduated from high school in Warsaw, Indiana in 1983 and briefly attended Indiana University. He moved to Magalia, CA in 1985 and studied at Butte College and Chico State. The last 15 years of his career were spent as a Quality Assurance Analyst for Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. (formerly Build.com).
Dirk loved animals, gaming with his friends, and reading sci-fi, crime, and fantasy books as well as comics. He met his wife, Dorothea in 2004. They were married in 2019.
Dirk was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Walls.
Dirk is survived by his wife, Dorothea Curtis, mother, Susie Walls, sister Michele Pereira and her daughters Evangeline and Genevieve, and sister Debbie Martin and her children.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dirk's name to the Butte Humane Society. Services are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home.
