Bordentown, NJ – Erma "Dolly" Brown, age 93, passed away peacefully at her home in Bordentown on Saturday, January 11, 2025. A long-time resident of the Bordentown community, Dolly was known for her warmth, generosity, and dedication to her family and community.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Dolly began her career working at the Bordentown Reformatory and then went on to work for the NJ State Parole Board, where she dedicated over 30 years of service before retiring. Her work was a reflection of her commitment to helping others and making a positive impact on the lives of young people. In her personal life, Dolly loved to travel and she was a passionate antique dealer and collector, specializing in Lenox. Her expertise and enthusiasm for antiques were well-known, and she was even published in The New York Times for her work. She also enjoyed speaking engagements, where she shared her knowledge and love of collecting with others.
Dolly was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Smith, and her sisters, Helen Weitzel and Lillian Russell as well as her husband, Harry A. Brown, and her sons, Harry W. Brown & Randy Brown.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Wood, her son, Glen Brown, and her grandchildren: Jennifer Wood, William T. Wood Jr., Devon Barrett, Randy Brown, and Ryan Brown.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Bordentown Cemetery, 210 Crosswicks Road, Bordentown, NJ. For those planning to attend, please go directly to the cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
