Donald "Don" R. Garrigus of Indianapolis passed away Saturday, June 29th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 20th, 1935 to the late Charles B. and Gladys (Tetrick) Garrigus in Francisco, Indiana. Donald married the late Barbara (Kusky) Garrigus on May 8th, 1986.
Donald is survived by his three sons: Donald (Paula) Garrigus II of Mooresville, Gary (Nancy) Garrigus of Indianapolis, and Will (Brooke) Garrigus of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; three great-great granddaughters; and two great-great grandsons; one brother, Bill Garrigus of Indianapolis; and one sister, Delores Beeson of Indianapolis.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers: Leroy Garrigus, Charles Garrigus Jr., and Clyde Garrigus; and one sister: Bernadine Reynolds.
Don lived a busy life, accomplishing many things in his time. In his day-to-day work life, he worked at Stark and Wetzel as a meat cutter for 30 years. Later in life, he worked security at Esterline Angus in Speedway where he retired from in 1997. Don was an avid race car fan and frequented at the Speedrome in Indianapolis where he raced stock cars for 15 years. In addition to his hobby of racing, he took pride in restoring old trucks. Don enjoyed deer hunting and spending time with his family. Don loved to "stir the pot". His playful and onery presence will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Family and friends may show their love and support on Friday, July 5th, 2024 from 5 to 8 pm at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A celebration of life gathering will be held on Saturday, July 6th at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home. Donald will be laid next to his late wife at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made in Don's memory to the Alzheimer's Assocation, 50 E 91st St Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240 and American Cancer Society, 5635 W 96th St Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
