Donna Montross Matylewicz, 65, of Lake Winola passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at home. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Duane Matylewicz, Sr. in 2015.
Born on September 22, 1958 in Montrose, she is the daughter of the late Donald and Geraldine (Garrison) Montross.
Donna was a 1976 graduate of Tunkhannock High School where she excelled as a cheerleader and tennis player. She furthered her education by earning an associate's degree in Human Resources from Keystone College and continued her education at Lackawanna College.
Throughout her life, she worked in various capacities within the realm of human services. She spent 11 years at Met Life before transitioning to Cigna and eventually finding her place at Colman Sales Co. For a brief time, she was an independent caregiver for the elderly in the local community. Her final role was at Our Lady of Peace in Dunmore, where she served as a nurse's aide caring for retired nuns from 2017 to 2024.
Donna served on the Board of Directors for Tunkhannock Area School District in the late 1990s. She was also was a member of the Business and Professional Women of Pennsylvania.
Donna cherished the time she spent with loved ones. Her fondness for the outdoors reflected her love for nature. One of Donna's proudest moments was participating in beauty pageants. Her greatest accomplishment was being a mother to her two sons.
Most importantly, she found joy in proclaiming Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by sons, Duane Jr. (DJ) and Daren Matylewicz; brother, Richard Montross.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by brothers, Bobby and Roy Montross.
Family and friends are invited to attend Donna's memorial service which will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 7:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73. W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Pastor Bill Nast presiding.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until the time of service on Wednesday.
