Donna June Mitchell, affectionately known to her family as Momo, peacefully passed at the age of 88 on October 28, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in
Springfield, MO.
Donna June was born on June 16, 1937, in Bolivar, MO, to Robert Dickerson and Grace (Goldsberry) Dickerson. She was an only child who cherished her parents and extended family. As a child, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and attended Bolivar Assembly of God for 23 years before she married and moved to
Springfield, MO. On August 21 st, 1959, she married the love of her life, Lee Donald Mitchell, in Bolivar, MO.
Donna June was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Donald Mitchell, her parents, Robert and Grace Dickerson, and many beloved friends and family members.
Donna June is survived by her daughters, Bobbi Beard of
Springfield, MO, and Kim Cavener and husband Steve of
Springfield, MO grandchildren, Krisi Nichols and husband Brandon of Nixa, MO; Kari Sugiyama and husband Jonathan of
Springfield, MO; Mitchell Beard and wife Whitley of
Springfield, MO; and McKalee Garrity and husband Matt of Joplin, MO; great grandchildren Tyson Nichols of Nixa, MO, and Liam Garrity of Joplin, MO; and a large number of cherished family and friends.
Donna June was dedicated to her pursuit of education and left a legacy of work ethic. She attended Bolivar Public Schools, Evangel College, and Southwest Missouri State University earning a Bachelor's Degree in English Education and a Master's Degree in Counseling. She was an educator in Willard Public Schools, an educator and counselor in Republic Public Schools for 30 years, and an adjunct instructor of English at Evangel University for 15 years. After retiring from education, she worked as a realtor for 15 years, retiring a second time at age 80.
Donna June spent her life in pursuit of growing closer to Jesus Christ. After getting married and moving to Springfield, she and her husband began attending Eastside Assembly, now known as Praise Assembly, where she soon became a member. She remained faithful for 65 years by supporting and participating in the ministries of the church, including premarital counseling and the Turning Point Ministry. She was generous in her giving to missions. For example, few might know but she recently funded the building of a school in Tanzania, Africa, and participated in correspondence with prisoners through the Assemblies of God ministries. She left her family a priceless legacy of honoring God, loving her family, and loving others.
Visitation and funeral service will be on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Praise Assembly, 3535 North Glenstone Avenue,
Springfield, MO 65803. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Alan Beauchamp officiating. Graveside service will follow at New Bethel Cemetery, Halfway, MO.

Donna June was passionate about the sanctity of life and not only financially supported but also volunteered at the Pregnancy Care Center in
Springfield, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be contributed to the Pregnancy Care Center of
Springfield, MO.
