Donnie Lee Burrows, 73, of Chickamauga, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Donnie was born in Chickamauga, Georgia on November 28, 1950 and was a lifelong resident of the North Georgia area. He graduated from Gordon Lee High School, Class of 1968 and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He retired from Duke Construction in 2004 after more than 10 years of service as a Commercial Construction Superintendent and enjoyed spending time with his family & friends. Donnie had a true talent for drawings and became the local favorite in and around the Chickamauga area. Donnie loved to go hunting & fishing, especially with his grandkids, whom were his true pride & joys. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle & friend that will be truly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Rob" Burrows; mother, Montyne Shelby Holcomb; brother, Larry Burrows and sister, Susan Burrows Boyd.
Survivors include his loving wife of more than 54 years, Jo Walker Burrows; daughters & sons-in-law, Tammy & (Bobby) Sisemore and Shannon & (Paul) Wells; 5 grandchildren, Jake & (Brittany) Moses, Ty Moses, Olivia Moses, Curtis Wells and Autumn Wells; 2 great-grandchildren, Ellie Moses and Isla Moses; several nieces, nephews and numerous extended family & friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024 in the Chickamauga City Cemetery with Rev. Charles McElhaney officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 11 a.m.– 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
