Doris Elaine (Hobson) Knous, 91, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown.
Doris was born in Norristown, Pennsylvania on January 24, 1933, the younger daughter of the late Ella Mae (Moore) Hobson and James Edward Hobson.
She was a vibrant soul with a wonderful sense of humor, a great listener, extolling sage advice when asked, and had a habit of making lasting friendships wherever she went.
Doris met her husband, George Knous Jr., in homeroom at Norristown High School, and they married on June 14, 1951. They were married for nearly 43 years, until his death in 1994.
Doris was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan and enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and sharing meals with her sister, June, and dear friends, Marge and Judy. For many years, she participated in a water exercise class where she made many good and lasting friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the pure joy of her later years.
Doris is survived by her two daughters, Linda Knous Dunn (G. Frederick Dunn) of Furlong, Pa., and Karen Knous Yuschak (John Yuschak) of Millsboro, De., and her son, George Jeffrey Knous (Barbara Bowman Knous) of Harrisburg, Pa. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her elder sister, June Betty Hartz.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In place of flowers, donations can be sent to Masonic Village Hospice 98 Masonic Dr, Suite 101 Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
