Doris Shettles Lockerby
Doris, age 84, went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 27, 2025. She was a native of Sherman, Mississippi and a resident of Ponchatoula, Louisiana. Doris loved the Lord and was a member of The 1st Baptist Church of Ponchatoula. She shared her love by being involved in community service and caring for others. Doris was a longtime nurse, she spent over 20 years in North Oaks emergency room providing comfort to others. She loved adventure and she was a travel enthusiast. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her loving family. Doris was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother who will be loved and missed.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Laura Lockerby Samson and Jackie Lockerby Ruth; brother, John L. Shettles III; grandchildren, Jacqueline Carlton, Brandy Robertson, Joshua Carlton, Ashley Carlton, Jessica Crowell, Allen Carlton, Madison Hunt, Kerrigan Hunt, Lizzie Larimore and Emily Padgett as well as numerous great grandchildren.
Doris is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Herschel Lockerby; brother, Marvin Lane Shettles; and sons, Jerry Allen Carlton and John Lane Carlton.
In Lieu of Flowers, please consider donating to The Dora Sue Blackwell Daussat Scholarship at Southeastern University.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation in the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home in Hammond, 12012 HWY 190 West, on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to the start of the Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m.
