Mrs. Doris Evelyn Tate, age 89, of Rome, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cherokee County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Golden Clarence Little and Thelma Hasty Little. She graduated from Canton High School in 1953 and from Berry College in 1957. She married her college classmate, C.L. Tate, on July 28, 1957, in Barnwell Chapel on the Berry College campus. Well-loved and respected as an educator, Mrs. Tate taught Business Education at Model High School from 1966 to 1993. She obtained her office experience in the Agronomy Department at the University of Georgia and in the Office of the Assistant to the President at Berry College. Doris was a Godly woman and devoted Christian. She was an active member of West Rome Baptist Church for 44 years where she taught Sunday School for most of her time there. She was active in supporting missionaries with her giving and prayers, and that she enjoyed singing in choirs at both West Rome Baptist and Fellowship churches.
She has been a member at Fellowship Baptist Church since 2008.
She was also known for her cooking and baking and always expressed her love through her work in the kitchen, sharing dishes and casseroles with her friends and family, making sure they knew she was thinking of them.
