DOROTHY ELEANOR (CONNELLY) GENTILE Of Sanford, Maine, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, at the age of 84, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born and raised in Woburn, Massachusetts, Dorothy was the beloved daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Trainor) Connelly. She was a proud graduate of Saint Charles School, Class of 1958, and briefly attended Lowell Teacher's College before beginning work at the telephone company, where she was named "Princess Belle" in the Annual Woburn Horrible's Parade.

On February 24, 1962, after four years of dating, Dorothy married the love of her life, Daniel Gentile. They honeymooned in Quebec and later settled in Wilmington, MA in 1964, where they raised their family and made cherished memories over 32 years.

Dorothy, known as Dotty to those closest to her, had a passion for travel and together with Danny explored the Caribbean Islands, Italy, Ireland, Germany, and Prince Edward Island. She worked for the Wilmington Public School system and later retired from Reading Cooperative Bank.

A true homemaker at heart, Dotty loved decorating, entertaining, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was well known for her baking-especially the special desserts she lovingly prepared for family, friends, neighbors, and clients of her husband's business.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, and sisters Kaye McIntosh and Sheila Small.

She is survived by her husband & devoted caretaker, Daniel, whom she had been married to for 63 years. She was the loving mother of Dan (Anna), MaryBeth (James), Peter, Ellen (Tom). She adored her six grandchildren & their significant others: Samantha (Pat), Tony (Michael), Allison (William), Molly, Layla, Danielle, Julia and Justin. She is also survived by her sisters Nancy Smethurst, Marilyn Dooley-Girardi, Virginia Baudanza, her husband Frank, and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Church, 280 Main Street, Woburn, on Wednesday, OCTOBER 22nd at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call prior to the Mass from 8:30-9:45 a.m. in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn, MA 01801. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Dorothy's memory to The Parkinson's Foundation New England Chapter, Attn: Donor Services, 5757 Waterford District Drive, Suite 310, Miami, FL 33126.
