Dorothy Anna McCreedy of Unionville, age 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024 at Timberline Lodge in Caro. Dorothy was born September 20, 1929 in Sebewaing, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Schroeder) Simon. She graduated from Sebewaing High School and went on to work at the Sebewaing Newspaper for a few years. On December 10, 1949, Dorothy married Lewis W. McCreedy at the Sutton Methodist Church Parsonage. Lewis preceded Dorothy in death on March 16, 2011. In 1962, Dorothy started working for Hills & Dales General Hospital, retiring in 1991 as the head of the medical records department. She enjoyed traveling to the UP with Lewis, going deer hunting, and tending to her flowers. Dorothy was always up for a trip to the casino, loved her scratch-offs and playing cards. She had the kindest heart and absolutely adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Dorothy's legacy of love and compassion will live on in them.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Deborah Culbert and Larry & Julie McCreedy; grandchildren, John & Kristie Culbert, Stacey & Mike DuRussel, Nicholas & Kristin McCreedy, and Karla & Garrett Cook; great-grandchildren, Justice, Zoe', Isabella, Gunner, Easton, Stella, and Cora; great-great grandchildren, Bayleigh and Axel; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Elman "Butch" Culbert; sisters, Marion (Harold) Lakie and Shirley (Bob) Euler.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro with Rev. Cameron Steele officiating. Interment will be held at Elmwood Township Hillside Cemetery, Cass City Road and Hurds Corner Road, following the luncheon. Dorothy's family will be present to receive visitors on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her service.
