Dorothy Napoletano, 88, of Shelby Township Michigan passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024. She was born in Alaska, Michigan, the youngest of six children. Her father moved the family often from New York, Arizona and Florida working as a rough carpenter. It is rumored that as a baby of the family, and following the loss of an infant with crib death, she was quite spoiled by her parents and older siblings. While working at the East Detroit Roller Rink, she met her future husband, Thomas who skated there. They became quite a pair with their love of roller dancing. They married and enjoyed a life marked by love, respect and laughter. Their marriage lasted 70 years.
Surviving are her 5 children: Debra (Jim Brown) Wren, Michael (Margaret) Napoletano, Sandi Doehrman, Raymond (Barbara) Napoletano and Jennifer (Kevin) Markham. She also has 10 grandchildren Brian Napoletano, Brett (Maggie) Schmidt, Brandon Schmidt, Daron (Lindsey) Napoletano, Doug (Pooja) Doehrman, Ellery (Beatrice) Doehrman, Mattie Napoletano, Joshua Markham, Grace Napoletano, Emma Markham and six great-grandchildren, Dami, Neil, Raina, Ricardo, Olive and Ainsley. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Napoletano.
Dorothy loved to entertain and hosted many family gatherings. She loved holidays, especially Christmas. She was never happier then when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was the heart of the family, pulling them through difficult times as well as celebrating the joyous occasions. Her passion for family has left a legacy of caring that transfers to her children and grandchildren.
Visitation Sunday, April 28, 2024 11:00am until the Memorial service at 12noon at Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Rd. (3 blocks east of Van Dyke). Utica. Inurnment Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
