BUTLER: Dorothy M. Piper, age 75, of Butler passed away in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
A true fighter, strong, independent and self sufficient, Dorothy is no longer bound by her earthly struggles as she was set free Sunday August 24, 2025.
She was born November 10, 1949 in Crown Point, Indiana and moved to the Clear Fork Valley later in life. Determined to finish her education, Dorothy graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1985 after attending classes as an adult student, and walking the stage on graduation day. She worked for a security company first at the gate at General Motors and later as an armed guard at the Mansfield Social Security Office for 10 years.
Patriotic, Dorothy was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Bellville and Loudonville. No shrinking violet, she enjoyed target shooting, and was also very good at crafts and painting, even painting the original Bellville welcome sign when it was first put up outside of town. Later in life, she connected with her two ½ sisters and ½ brother, they immediately bonded and remained close.
Described as ornery and fun-loving Dorothy was the center of the party. She loved teasing and embarrassing others, and sharing a laugh. Up for any party, she always had the perfect outfit or costume, usually made by herself and tucked away in her closet. She loved shopping and was known for starting checking items off her Christmas list as early as January 1st. Blessed with a generous heart, Dot will be remembered for her creativity, and humor.
She is survived by her sons Jerry (Kim) Teel, Scott (Martha) Teel; grandchildren Emily Teel (Dan), Maggie Teel, Stevie Teel (Jason), and Isabella Ringer; great grandchildren Dallas and Zandro; and one living sister Jean.
Dot was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
The family will host a celebration of life in honor of Dot in the fall.
