Dortha Jean Mathus

Dortha Jean (Coyle) Mathus, age 86 years, passed peacefully Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Norton Women and Children's Pavilion. She was born in Gravel Switch, Kentucky, and had been a long-time resident of Portland. She was a hairdresser in her younger years and she loved doing hair. She had been a member of the Shawnee VFW Post Women's Auxiliary and she loved summer days and nights swinging on her front porch swing Dortha retired from Sam Meyer Dry Cleaners where she served as Manager for many years and after that worked at the Portland Kroger's. She was predeceased by her loving husband of more than 20 years, Carl Jessie Mathus, her parents, Clever and Mayme Elizabeth (Cooley) Coyle and her brother, James D. Coyle. She is survived by her son, Michael W. Kukielka (Terri), her daughter, Sandra D. Arterburn and her brother, George C. Coyle. Her dear grandchildren, Holly Bodemann (Frank), Heather Blackwell (Frankie), Angela Bynum and Missy Mudd (Lance) and great-grandchildren, Tommy, Michael, Justin, Amber, Matthew, Juliet, Jessie and Leland also survive. Funeral Services will be held 9:30am Friday, June 16, 2023, at J.B. Ratterman & Sons Funerals & Family Cremation Care, 2114 W. Market St. Interment, Highland Memory Gardens, Mt. Washington. Visitation 2:00 to 8:00pm Thursday.
