Doug B. Harwell, 51, of Sparta, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025. Doug was born May 26, 1973, in Centralia, Illinois, the son of William and Sharon (Shank) Harwell.
If you knew Doug, you knew he loved anything that went fast. From bicycles, to motorcycles, cars to boats. What started with racing bicycles and then taking it to the Cup Series Road Racing at Daytona. He loved anything car or motorcycle related. From building cars with his friends, to taking cruises down highway 125, to riding sxs at Glade Top. Doug will be remembered for his smile and loving heart. He was a true and loyal friend to those that knew him. Besides cars, Doug was an avid outdoorsmen, catching frogs with his brother as kids to helping Parker catch his first fish and tag his first deer. He and Deidra spent weekends camping on the high ridges of Glade Top and he found his "Safe Haven" at their home together or spending time at their property in Ava. Doug spent his last day doing what he loved; breakfast with Deidra and Parker, then driving his favorite part of highway 125. God was his last passenger when they made a slight turn towards Heaven, where Doug was greeted with a parade of cars as he drove in smiling and at peace.
Doug is survived by his loving partner Deidra; his son Parker; his parents Bill and Sharon Harwell; his brother Chris Harwell and his wife Kristen; three nieces Ashley Turner, Rebecca Harwell and Reece Harwell, ; and numerous loving friends who will carry on Doug's memory with stories they will share with Parker in the coming years.
Memorial service for Doug will be held at 5:00 P.M., Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., Saturday, March 15, 2025, in the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com. So sorry to learn of Doug´s death. Remember he and Doug as little boys and how industrious they both were. I visited them often on Centralia Lake. Heaven got a good one! Prayers to the entire family.
