WOLCOTT, CT
Douglas S. Druan
"Beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle & friend"
Douglas S. Druan, 62, of Wolcott, was reunited with many loved ones at the gateway to heaven on Thursday, August 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness at Bristol Hospital.
Doug was born in Waterbury on the 4th of the July in 1962, a son of Gertrude "Trudy" (Rick) Druan of Watertown and the late Jeremiah B. Druan. Having grown up in Waterbury, countless friends were made throughout Doug's earlier years, having graduated from Sacred Heart High School, class of 1980. Doug earned his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Connecticut, and then on to work in sales and as a general manager in the manufacturing industry for over thirty-five years.
Doug enjoyed bartending, which he did at various establishments in the greater Waterbury area including Domar's for over thirty years, as well as La Bella Vista. More recently he worked at Loehmann-Blasius Chevrolet and as a substitute teacher at Wolcott High School.
Doug's faith was very important to him and he found much comfort in attending Mass each Sunday. His sons were everything to him and he was very proud of the young men that they developed into. Doug was a sports enthusiast who loved the Cincinnati Reds, Dallas Cowboys, and above all, the UConn Huskies. Doug was very proud to have followed in his Uncle Tom's footsteps having graduated from UConn and equally as proud that both his sons carried on that tradition. Coaching, tail-gaiting, playing cards, and beating his sister at backgammon were amongst his favorite things to do. Doug had so many good friends throughout his life, having maintained friendships with his life-long friends since early elementary school; especially his "ol' buddy Rocko" and the rest of the "cousins" from Bunker Hill, his college friends and roommates, and as a newcomer to Wolcott, he made many new friends and neighbors with whom he shared lots of laughs and good times with.
Besides his wife Jennifer (Jones) and mother Trudy, Doug leaves behind to cherish his memory his twin sons, Zachary Druan and his wife Christina of Thomaston and Michael Druan of Wolcott, a brother, Robert Druan and his wife Lori of Wolcott, and a sister, Tracey Lewis and her husband Richard of Southbury. He also leaves behind his in-laws, Robert and Mary Jones of Wolcott, a brother-in-law, Robert Jones, Jr. and his wife Marybeth of Wolcott, a sister-in-law, Martha Jones of Wolcott, his nieces and nephews, Stephen Druan of NYC, Jacqueline Druan of Wolcott, Andrew Lewis and his wife Madison of Shelton, Christian Lewis of NYC, and Katie Lewis of N. Haven, his god-mother, Virginia Doyon, his uncle Tom Druan and his aunt Maria, as well as several cousins and a large host of friends.
Doug's family would like to thank the ICU staff at Bristol Hospital for their exceptional and compassionate care especially; Michelle APRN, Chris RN, Marilyn PCA, and Dr. El Baz. A special thank you to Father Sullivan for his emotional and spiritual support during this difficult time and to Fritz Blasius for his kindness.
