Doug passed away Friday, August 9, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with pneumonia, in Tyler, TX.
He was born November 15, 1956, in Dover, Ohio to William O. Jones and Bonnie J. Richardson. Doug graduated from Dover High School in 1975.
In 1994 he met the love of his life, Trish Jones, at Shoney's where she was working as a server at the time. Doug and Trish have shared 31 years together, including 16 years as husband and wife.
Doug worked and retired from Berner Trucking, where he was employed for 31 years. Doug was known to be a creature of habit and took pride in helping to maintain his house and his well-manicured lawn, which could rival Progressive Field for how well he took care of it. He loved watching football and drinking beer with his friends on the weekend. He also loved watching reruns of Star Trek.
Trish and Doug have spent the last few years living in Tyler, Texas with their three cats. He would complain each time Trish would bring home a new feline friend; however, he was always the first one to take the time to sit down and cuddle with them.
Doug always took care of his own - a loving husband, a caring father, brother, grandfather, doting son to his parents and a loyal friend. His presence will be sorely missed by many.
Doug is survived by his loving family including his wife, Patricia "Trish" Jones of the home; his parents, William O. Jones and Bonnie J. Richardson; a sister, Tracy (Cassidy) Hochstetler of Dover; son, Zachary Weidensaul of Dover; son, Jason Jones of Portland Oregon; and daughter, Andrea Jones of Portland Oregon; niece, Sarah (Byron) Barnes of Pickerington Ohio; and nephew, Sean Welsh of Dover. He also has two granddaughters, Nelle Jones, and Annie Meyers of Magnolia Ohio.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 7th, 2024, at 4 p.m., at the Clubhouse, at 1590 N Crater Ave, Dover, OH 44622. Please come and share stories and memories about Doug.
If desired, memorials may be made to St. Judes (www.stjude.org).
