Douglas Layton Wagoner, affectionately known as "Doug," was born on March 12th, 1941, in Paris, Kentucky. He departed from this life on November 7th, 2025, at his home with family by his side.

Born and raised on a farm in Paris, Kentucky, Doug graduated from Bourbon County High School and attended the University of Kentucky, where he studied agriculture. He later discovered his passion for sales, a path that led him to Louisville, Kentucky, where he made his home.

In his long and successful career as a salesman, Doug was admired for his integrity, strong work ethic, and straightforward nature. He approached his profession with honesty and dedication, earning the trust of colleagues and clients alike. Doug also had an extraordinary gift for conversation and a natural ability to engage and connect with others on a personal level.

Doug was known for his quick wit and often delighted others with his clever and memorable one-liners. He took great pride in his appearance, known for his impeccable taste and for being impeccably dressed each and every day. A car enthusiast, he held a special fondness for Saabs, appreciating their individuality, distinctive style, and performance. He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, with an unwavering loyalty to the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruby Wagoner; his brother, Larry Wagoner; and sister-in-law, Sharon Wagoner.

Doug is survived by his wife, Judy Mattingly Wagoner; his sons, Travis Wagoner, Louisville; Mark (Kate) Wagoner, Louisville; John (Haley) Wagoner, Florida; grandchildren, James Wagoner & Elizabeth Wagoner, Louisville; Vera Wagoner, Florida; sisters, Anne Hunt, Paris; Sue (Rick) Harris, Paris; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Highlands Funeral Home at 3331 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40205. A visitation will be held on November 16th, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, followed by a memorial service starting at 3:00 pm and concluding at 3:30 pm.

Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Douglas Layton Wagoner will be remembered fondly by those who knew him and his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
