Duane R. Briggs

Duane Richard Briggs, 49, of Rome, New York, passed away on February 3, 2023.
Duane was born to Richard Briggs and Rita VanDresar on April 29, 1973 in Utica, New York. He was a loving family man who graduated from Remsen High School in 1991 and enjoyed his career as a Histotechnologist at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Duane held many names in his life including Bug, Doc/Uncle Doc, loving brother, and his favorite, Dad and Grandpa.
Duane is survived by his children, Kate, Alex, and son-in-law Trevor; granddaughter, LeRae; mother, Rita; stepfather, Kenny; siblings, Sally, Sara, George, and Joe, and many loved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend and dog, Luey. Duane was predeceased by his daughter, Megan and his father, Richard.
A letter to Duane-
There's a hole in our hearts without you by our side playing cards, going fishing, and enjoying family-time. We all want you to know how much you truly meant to each and every one of us. You had your challenges but you were always a selfless, loving, and hardworking man that everyone loved. We recently found something that stood out to us, "My mind still talks to you and my heart still looks for you but my soul knows you are at peace." So give your little girl Megan and your dad a hug and watch over all of us that love you so much.
