Dustin “Dusty” Smith, 38, of Anderson passed away Friday, July 11, 2025 in Madison County. He was born January 21, 1987 in Henry County to Gary Dean and Teresa (Hardwick) Smith.

A 2006 graduate of Tri High School, he was employed at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. Dusty was a skilled construction worker and worked on many homes in Henry County. In his earlier years he worked at Denny's Restaurant in Spiceland. He was a mentor of young people struggling with addiction. Dusty’s hobbies included fishing, NASCAR races and collecting Hot Wheels. His little boy, Aiden Noah Smith, was the joy of his life.

In addition to his son, Dustin is survived by his mother, Teresa Smith (partner, Kevin Baker) of Lewisville; one sister Carrie Hardwick (partner, Jeff Banks) of Indianapolis; one brother, Gary Smith (partner, Brandi Logan) of Carthage; maternal grandmother, Linda Hardwick of New Castle; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dustin was preceded in death by his father, Gary Dean Smith; maternal grandfather, Paul Hardwick and paternal grandparents, Osby and Nora Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Paul Hardwick officiating. Burial will take place at Lewisville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
