Earl Robert "Bob" Goad, 67, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning on May 17, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown after battling cancer for 4 years. He was lovingly known by his family and friends as Bob.
A native of Sullivan County, TN, Bob was born on July 28, 1955, to Earl Clarence Goad and Evelyn Barr Goad. He was a 1973 graduate of Central High School and attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN, and East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.
Bob's work career included being a car salesman for an Oldsmobile dealership and an Allstate Insurance Agent in Louisiana and working in management at The Home Depot in the Upstate area for 25 years.
Bob loved the Lord, and he loved people. He was generous with his money and especially his time. His employees loved him because he treated them with respect and as equal,
expecting great results from their work.
In 1999, he married his wife, Nancy, of almost 24 years. Throughout their marriage, they were known by all as the twins who dressed alike or wore blending outfits. It was known that there was a strong bond between them.
Mr. Goad is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Gregg Goad; his daughter, Leslie Marie Goad Espey (Rob); grandson, Maddox Henry Espey; two sisters, Betty Templeton and Carolyn Osborne (Dan); a brother-in-law, Roger Gregg (Mary Jane); along with several nephews, great nieces, and a great nephew.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast at 1604 NE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023, in the Chapel of the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, at 2206 Woodruff Rd.
