Mrs. Earlene Bates Bowen, 71, of West Point, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center.
Born March 7, 1954, in Carrollton, Mrs. Bowen was the daughter of the late Earl and Frances Arrington Bates. She was a lifelong resident of Troup County and was a member of Gray Hill Baptist Church. A loving and caring mom, Mrs. Bowen always had an open door for anyone in need and loved her hot coffee and cream.
Survivors include her children, Danny Bowen (Lynn), Rebecca Bowen (Wendell Tarwater), Della Floyd (Ricky), Catherine Williams, Frances Bowen, Regina Moman; sisters, Tina Eaton, Becky Kilgore, Shirley Gordy; grandchildren, Summer Lance-Lipham (Krista), Melissa Lipham, Levi Lipham (Shaunna Kilgore), Roy D. Lipham, Candice Ward (Renee), Brandi Ward, Kristina Hewett (Kain), Dylan Bowen, Krystyn Bowen, Joseph Waldroup, Ashley Bartlett, Ryan and Hunter Cox, and Camdan Guin; great-grandchildren, John Ward (Abbie Haney), Ryder Haralson, Izzy Lipham, Aubrey Lipham, Fionna Lipham, Roy Lipham, Jr., Selene Lipham, King Walker, Malaysa Walker, Jacob Waldroup, Trent Waldroup, EmmaLynn Longshore, Olivia Longshore, and one on the way, Aine Hewett; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh David Bowen; son, Rudie Bowen; granddaughter, Kristen Lipham; sister, Marie Bates Driver; and her brothers, Earl Bates, Paul Bates and Clyde Bates.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Pastor Joel Scott, Sr. will officiate and interment will follow in Gray Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 until 2 Monday afternoon.
