Edgar Orville Eaton, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, May 24, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m., at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches.

Edgar was born on June 10th, 1947 to Dora and Edgar Orville Eaton, Sr. of Port Arthur, TX. He was a member of the class of 1965 at Thomas Jefferson High School where his athletic talents shone on the track and the football field. In fact, Edgar was known for having never lost a yard as a fullback for the Yellow Jackets. He went to Texas A&M University on a football scholarship, but ultimately graduated from Lamar University.

Edgar’s love of sports never waned. He attended as many of his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events as possible and also loved cheering on the Astros and his beloved Aggies.

Edgar had a successful career in banking that included approving loans for shrimp boats. This meant Edgar always had the biggest, best shrimp which led to him perfecting secret recipes for shrimp fry batter and cocktail sauce. If he ate shrimp in a restaurant, Edgar would insist on them bringing ingredients to the table so he could mix up a small batch of his own sauce rather than eating whatever the restaurant had. It’s safe to say Edgar ruined us all for any other shrimp.

Edgar was a devout parishioner of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches and an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Whether you knew Edgar as the life of the party or the most stubborn person on earth, you couldn’t help but love him. He will be greatly missed.

Edgar is preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Eldon Errington, and his best buddy, Odey. He is survived by his son, Jason Eaton and his wife Yani along with their sons, Michael and Allen; daughter, Alicia Eaton; sister, Marie Errington; nephews, Troy and Colin Errington along with their wives Krista and Kelly respectively; and grand nieces and nephews, Mackenzie, Reese, Dylan, Colton, and Jackson.
