Edgar Rummler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anthony Funeral & Cremation Chapels - Brighton/Rochester Chapel on Nov. 8, 2024.
Rochester: Our dad and Opa, Ed Rummler, passed away peacefully at the Friendly Home in Rochester on November 3, 2024. He spent the past year surrounded by attentive and loving caregivers, his walls covered with photos that brought back fond memories of his active life.
Ed was born in Rochester on May 15, 1931 and attended School No. 1, Monroe High School and the University of Rochester, where he graduated with a degree in Psychology. A strong young man and an enthusiastic "joiner," he earned the nickname "Crusher" on school football and wrestling teams. Ed was a life-long supporter of the Boy Scouts, proud to be an Eagle Scout and a scoutmaster.
Ed and his wife Marcene, a transplant from South Dakota, met at a boarding house in Rochester. He proposed to her behind Tay House Lodge. They had three children: Brenda, Scott, and Victoria. Ed and Marcene traveled to many countries and particularly loved cruises.
Ed found his professional home at Kodak, where he was a Technical Sales Representative in the Health Images Division for 40 years. His technical expertise and gregarious nature led Kodak to send him and his family from New Hampshire to Indiana, and from Michigan to New York and Florida. He was glad to retire to Rochester, where he continued his busy social life: one of his first orders of business was to get his small plane pilot's license. Ed was also an active member of Northfield Masonic Lodge #426, the Chorus of the Genesee, First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford, and New Horizons Band.
Ed was predeceased by his wife, Marcene M. Vander Plaats Rummler, and by son-in-law, Dirk Benthien. He is survived by his children, Brenda Rummler Benthien, Victoria Rummler (Nicola Morelli) and Scott Rummler; and by his grandchildren, Lars, Pia and Nils Benthien.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 16, 3PM at First Presbyterian Church of Pittsford, 21 Church St. Pittsford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lollypop Farm.
