Edgar G. Zepeda, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
He was born April 30, 1933, in Laredo, TX to Manuel and Ester Garcia Zepeda.
He moved to San Antonio, TX, where he met and married the love of his life, Sylvia Baylor Zepeda. Edgar loved and cherished his wife of 56 years, his three children, seven grandchildren, his extended family, and many friends. Edgar lived by his faith and strong work ethic. He never met a stranger; shaking hands and saying hello to everyone he met was one of many attributes Edgar was known for.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sylvia B. Zepeda, and his eldest son, Edgar L. Zepeda.
He is survived by his son, Patrick Zepeda, and his wife, Adrian; his daughter, Marissa Zepeda; and grandchildren Elyse Zepeda, Adam Zepeda, Ethan Zepeda, Nick Hernandez, Karissa Zepeda, Alex Hernandez, and Eryn Louie.
Edgar graduated from Fox Tech High School in San Antonio. He went on to study accounting and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from St. Mary's University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah. He proudly served four years in the United States Army and then worked as a civilian at Kelly Air Force Base. He retired as a GS14 Supervisor of Procurement U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Government Contracting, and again as an Associate Professor Emeritus at Our Lady of the Lake University.
Edgar supported St. Matthew Catholic Church through his time and donations, volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister, and Usher. He also held various offices in supporting roles as a Scout Master of the Boy Scouts of America and served on the Board of Directors for San Antonio Federal Credit Union.
Edgar was active in his grandchildren's lives and was an avid Spurs fan and season ticket holder for 28 years. He loved to travel, taking various cruises throughout different parts of the world.

Edgar was a good a man and such a good influence in my life as a Scout leader. It was so cool to check in with him when he was teaching part time at San Antonio Community College and I was taking classes there before I went on to Engineering school.

Edgar was one of the most giving people in the life of myself and my wife, Anna Marie. We both will miss not only his kindness toward us as friend but his total and complete giving of himself to his wonderful family who was the joy of his life. I have no doubt that he has received God's welcoming love spoken in St. Matthew's Gospel `Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master´s happiness!´ (Mt 25-23). He indeed was a faithful servant of the Lord and of his family and friends. Rest in peace my friend!

God's love and mine,

Deacon John Michel
