Edmond Melfi Sr., 85, formerly of Stamford, CT, passed away on February 1, 2025.
Eddie was born on March 3, 1939, to the late Cosmo and Florence Melfi. He graduated from Stamford High School in 1957 and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1963. Eddie then began a long and dedicated career with the Stamford Police Department, serving from 1968 until his retirement in 1996. During his tenure, he rose through the ranks from Patrolman to Firearms Instructor.
Eddie embraced retirement for nearly 30 years, much of which he enjoyed in Mesa, AZ, alongside his wife.
He is survived by his children: Wendy (Kevin) DeLury, Eddie Melfi Jr., and Lisa May Melfi; his grandchildren: Kevin (Jamie) DeLury, Caitlin DeLury, Alexis Melfi, and Eddie Melfi III; and his great-grandson, Oskar DeLury. He also leaves behind his nephew Danny Fedele, great-nieces and nephews, and his goddaughter Christine Walkley.
Eddie was predeceased by his sister, Yolanda Fedele, and his niece, Donna Daniele.
A proud Marine, Eddie found joy and purpose in his lifelong passion for drum corps. He directed and instructed numerous ensembles, including the Silver Falcons, the all-girl Silhouettes Drum & Bugle Corps, the Connecticut Hurricanes, the Firebirds, and the Yankee Regiment, among others. He also trained the Stamford Police Department Honor Guard and the Darien VFW Silent 16s. His legacy of precision and discipline in marching lives on through the countless individuals he mentored and inspired.
His Children and Grandchildren will host a celebration of life on Friday June 27, 10 am at Parkway Assembly of God, 260 New Canaan Avenue, Norwalk CT.
In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to Parkway Assembly of God at www.parkwaynorwalk.com OR Darien VFW at www.darienvfw.org
