Edna Pearl Wheaton Jonesboro-Edna Pearl Wheaton, 92, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born in Algoa, AR on March 29, 1917 to the late Clinton Edward and Sadie Smith. She was a homemaker and also retired after 20 years as a cook for the Jonesboro Public Schools. A member of the Temple Baptist Church, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, flowers, raising Chihuahuas and liked dancing at the Senior Citizens Center. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren very much. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Wheaton and two sons, Roy L. Wheaton and Ronald Wheaton; a granddaughter, Theresa Ousler She is survived by one son, Harrison Wheaton and his wife, Peggy of Jonesboro; one brother, Leroy Wheaton of Swartz Creek, MI; one sister, Lora Mae Talley of Jonesboro, nine grandchildren, Debbie (Jeff) Pranger, Sondra Wheaton, Randy (Sonia) Wheaton, Michael (Cassandra) Wheaton, Keith (Pam) Wheaton, Shane (Sheila) Wheaton, Brent (Jana) Wheaton and Phillip (Karla) Wheaton; eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Nettleton Cemetery with Rev. Barry Holt officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons, Randy Wheaton, Shane Wheaton, Phillip Wheaton, Justin Wheaton, Mike Wheaton and Jeff Pranger and as honorary pallbearers, Dillon Vincent and Doyle Dorton. Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Gregg Funeral Home in Jonesboro. The family requests lasting memorials to the Temple Baptist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
