Edward "Ed" Allen Arensdorf, 82, of West Branch and former longtime resident of Iowa City died at home on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

A Memorial Celebration is planned for Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 4 PM to 7 PM at The Kirkwood Room in Iowa City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa City Free Medical Clinic, Systems Unlimited, Iowa City Hospice or to the charity of your choice.

Ed was born on July 13,1943 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Nicholas and Gertrude Nolan Arensdorf. He received a BFA from UW Platteville.

On May 28,1971 Ed married Karen Cultra in Iowa City.

Ed was the building manager at the Iowa City Public Library for 30 years, retiring in 2006. He and Karen moved to West Branch in 1995.

Ed was the recipient of the Iowa City Human Rights Award and a volunteer at the Iowa City Free Medical Clinic. He was an avid rock climber and runner. Ed ran in many marathons including the Boston Marathon. Ed enjoyed buying and selling antiques, traveling with friends, and making jewelry.

Ed is survived by, his wife Karen; his niece, Deborah (Brent) Donohoe and nephews, Mark Arensdorf, Michael Arensdorf, and David (Jennifer) Arensdorf; great nieces and nephews; and numerous Arensdorf and Nolan cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, William, Nicholas Jr., and Mary Ruth.
